Pro-Life Stance
You may have recently received information or noticed advertising that attempts to distort or mischaracterize my pro-life position. I am, have been and will continue to be one of the leading pro-life advocates in the Ohio General Assembly. In fact, the very first bill I introduced upon assuming office more than a decade ago was a pro-life measure. Since then, I have drafted, sponsored, and voted for every pro-life measure that was placed before me.
I am proud to have championed legislation that:
- banned late-term abortions in Ohio
- placed limits on the use of RU-486 across our state
- allowed pharmacists and health workers of conscious to refuse distributing drugs that cause abortion or terminate pregnancies following conception
- strengthened the state’s parental consent laws
- prohibited taxpayer dollars to be used toward abortions under the provisions of “Obamacare”
- prohibited the use of taxpayer dollars from being used for abortions at Ohio’s public hospitals and barred the coverage for abortions from public employee health care plans
- protected pro-life and Christian college groups from being banned on campuses
- required the Health Department to apply for abstinence education grants for our schools
